Lots has happened in the world of Android this past week, with Sony’s Xperia Ear going on sale. If you don’t remember the Xperia Ear, it was initially shown off during Mobile World Congress earlier this year, and is a Bluetooth earpiece from Sony that is similar to the Moto Hint that lets you voice activate various actions on your smartphone. In addition to the Sony Xperia Ear going on sale in the U.S. this past week, Qualcomm also shared a few details on their upcoming Quick Charge 4.0 standard. Google recently made it known that they have plans to expand into the UK, and are targeting a 3,000 job lift at their King’s Cross campus.
Google is also rumored to be working on a new Fiber TV box which adds support for 4K video playback, although where and when it plans to refresh these boxes in existing Fiber homes is unclear, or if they plan to roll them out at all. Although there were no major smartphone launches this past week, OnePlus did officially launch the OnePlus 3T, a revamped OnePlus 3 with a few upgraded pieces of hardware and a new 128GB internal storage option. Huawei also launched their MediaPad M3 in the U.S. this past week, and it’s now been rumored that there are two major OEMs working with Andromeda dev kits, with potential plans for a launch towards the end of next year.
