There are a number of ways that you can now consume video content via Android. Of course, what is likely to be the most commonly used way, is a smartphone. However, tablets provide a greater degree of viewing real estate and Android TV, offers an even more TV-optimized approach to consuming video via Android. Needless to say, with so many different devices to consume video content, there is also a number of different apps and services which will let you consume video content as well.
VUDU is one of those apps and is one which is available on multiple Android platforms, including Android TV. Like a number of similar apps, VUDU provides you with access to any movies and shows that you own and are linked to your VUDU account, as well as offering the ability to rent and buy more movies and shows directly through the app. Speaking of which, the app has been updated this week with a new feature which will likely be very welcomed by any and all VUDU customers – the ability to view your rented content offline.
The new feature comes as part of the VUDU app upgrade to version 5.0. As such, following the update, any movies or shows that you do rent through VUDU, you will be able to store locally on your device and watch offline, at anytime. A feature that many apps are expected to introduce going forward, including Netflix. Especially, as offline playback does not only offers those who want to watch content while away from an internet connection the ability to do so, but also offers those on temperamental connections the ability to enjoy the content without encountering so many connection issues. Besides the actual offline playback feature, the Google Play Store listing notes that following the update, any Blu-ray or DVD content that has been linked to your account will also be accessible through the app. If you have yet to see the update hitting your device(s), then it should be only a matter of time as the Play Store listing was updated with the new changes yesterday, November 10. Likewise, if you have yet to give the VUDU Android app a try, you can do so by heading through the link below and downloading the updated 5.0 version.
