Xiaomi Unveils Mi Box 3s In China, AI Tech Included

Xiaomi is, first and foremost, a smartphone manufacturer, but this company is so much more than that. Xiaomi manufacturers various types of smart gadgets, ranging from smartphones, smart tracker and tablets, all the way to smart TVs, electric bicycles and even Android TV devices. Speaking of which, the Xiaomi Mi Box products have been really popular in China, and Xiaomi even made the latest Mi Box available in the US as well. It is not exactly surprising these TV boxes are so popular, as they’re really well-built, offer nice specs and are really affordable, as the Mi Box is priced at $69 in the US.

That being said, Xiaomi has just introduced yet another Mi Box product in China, the Mi Mox 3s. This device actually resembles the previous model quite a bit in terms of the design, and most people would have a hard time differentiating the two. The Mi Box 3s features a pebble-like design, and has a matte texture on top, the device looks quite understated, and the only thing that pops on its body is Xiaomi’s ‘Mi’ branding. This TV box comes with an HDMI, AV and USB ports, while you’ll also find a power plug on it, of course. The Mi Box 3s is fueled by the Amlogic S905X processor, and it supports VP94K at 60 FPS hardware decoding. The Mi Box 3s also packs in 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The Mi Box 3s comes with support for high dynamic range (HDR) image technology, and it will ship with a new remote controller. In addition to all this, the Mi Box 3s supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 2.4 / 5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and also Dolby and DTS sound, which is always great to see.

Now, on top of all this, the source claims the Mi Box 3s comes with AI (Artificial Intelligence), so we’re guessing it has some sort of an AI assistant built-in or something of the sort? We still don’t have any specifics regarding all this, but such info will be provided by Xiaomi in the near future, so stay tuned for that. The Xiaomi Mi Box 3s is priced at 299 Yuan ($44) in China, in case you’re interested.

UPDATE: The ‘AI’ part of this announcement was referencing the Mi Box 3s’ ‘PatchWall’ interface. This interface learns from your usage habits, and will offer content based on what you like, it will push better content your way as time goes by, according to the company.
