While most of the top-tier smartphones from other OEMs have already been updated with the November 2016 security patches released by Google, the LG G4 and the LG V10 were yet to receive this monthly security update until now, and it appears that, at least, the AT&T variants of LG G4 and LG V10 are now finally receiving this OTA (Over-The-Air) update in the US.
A new software update is now rolling out for the AT&T variant of the LG G4, which will bring the security patches released by Google for the month of November along with some general bug fixes and performance improvements. The update weighs in at 273MB in size, carries build number MRA58K and will bump the firmware version to H81022c. Not only the LG G4, but the LG V10 is also getting a similar security update on AT&T, which brings along security patches from November, as well. Speaking of the LG V10 update, the update is pretty small in size compared to the one rolling out for the LG G4; it clocks in at 29MB, carries build number MRA58K and bumps the firmware version to H90021x. So if you’re carrying either an LG G4 or the LG V10 on the AT&T network, keep an eye on an update to hit your device in the coming days. As always the case with OTA updates, this update might take some time to reach your device so don’t worry if you’re not seeing any update notification yet on your device; it should be there in a week or so. Otherwise, you can manually check for an update by navigating to your device’s settings, to see if a new update is available for download. Also, while downloading an update, it’s recommended that you’re connected to a WiFi network and that you have, at least, 50℅ battery left on your device.
Now that both devices are updated with the November security update, one might wonder if these devices will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat anytime soon. The LG G5 has already been updated to Android 7.0 a while back, and if recent reports are anything to go by, LG is working on an Android 7.0 update for these devices which could rollout to the LG G4 by the end of January 2017 and then to the LG V10.
