Coolpad Unveils Cool Changer S1, Snapdragon 821 In Tow

LeEco is one of the most interesting Chinese smartphone manufacturers at the moment. This company started selling their smartphones and smart TVs in the US quite recently, which is quite a feat considering LeEco launched their first smartphones in April 2015. That being said, the LeEco-owned company, Coolpad, introduced the Cool Changer C1 smartphone at the end of last month. That is a mid-range smartphone, and we were wondering when will the rumored Cool Changer S1 land. Well, the company has just introduced that handset as well, and it’s considerably more powerful than the Cool Changer C1.

The Coolpad Cool Changer S1 is the company’s all-new flagship. This is a metal-clad smartphone which comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and its power / lock and volume rocker keys are located on the right side of its shell. This smartphone sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, along with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of native storage. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core processor, along with the Adreno 530 GPU. The 4,070mAh battery is also a part of this package, and should be more than enough to get you to the end of the day, if that doesn’t happen, however, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging tech is at your disposal. Sony’s IMX298 16-megapixel camera (PDAF, EIS, BSI, 4K recording at 30 FPS) is placed on the back of this smartphone, and next to it, you’ll notice the dual-LED flash. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Cool Changer S1, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find LeEco’s eUI 5.8 user interface.

This phone comes with two large speakers designed by Harman Karon, and the Harman Clari-fi audio system is built in here as well. This smartphone also comes with AKG’s earphones which are worth 999 Yuan ($144), and are made out of aluminum. The Coolpad Cool Changer S1 comes in Silver, Gold and Black color variants. The 4GB RAM (+64GB storage) variant is priced at 2,499 Yuan ($359), while the 6GB RAM (+64GB storage) model costs 2,699 Yuan ($388). Now, the third variant of this phone is also available, and it comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, that model of the device costs 3,199 Yuan ($460). This smartphone is available through Jingdong Mall, Suning Tesco, Lynx and Cool Mall in China, we still don’t know if it will become available outside of Coolpad’s homeland.
