The Samsung Galaxy S8 has been all over the news in the last couple of weeks. The Galaxy S8 rumors are all over the place, some reports are suggesting that we’ll see 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch variants of the device, while others claim that Samsung will release 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch models of the device, as was the case with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, respectively. We’ve also seen some rumors claiming that the phone will ship without a home button below the display, and that it won’t include a 3.5mm headphone jack. There are tons of additional rumors that have surfaced lately, and now we’ve stumbled upon yet another such rumor.
According to the newly-leaked information, the Galaxy S8’s fingerprint scanner could be placed on the back of the device. As you probably already know by now, Samsung’s devices ship with a physical home button which is placed below the display, and that home button comes with a built-in fingerprint scanner. Well, if rumors are to be believed, the physical home button will no longer be a part of the package, which means that Samsung has found a new place to install the fingerprint scanner, hence this rumor. It is also possible that the company plans to use the Optical Fingerprint Recognition, which means that it could be included in the display itself, but the new rumor claims otherwise. In addition to that, the rumor claims that the Galaxy S8 will include an iris recognition sensor as well, which was included in the Galaxy Note 7, as some of you probably remember. The iris scanner in the Galaxy S8 will reportedly be considerably faster than the one in the Galaxy Note 7, and Samsung allegedly plans to re-launch the Samsung Pass service along with the Galaxy S8.
This is one out of many rumors that we’ve seen lately, and it’s really hard to choose which rumors to believe, and which are pure fiction. The Galaxy S8 will be one of the most popular smartphones of next year, as it was the case with its predecessors, and Samsung is under pressure to create a truly great smartphone following the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
