The Google App's 'Upcoming' Tab Is Now Rolling Out To Users

Back towards the end of October, a new ‘Upcoming’ tab was spotted in the Google app that appeared to be a new initiative Google was looking to implement in the future, which would basically split the lists of information into two separate categories to help users organize their more important details and more readily access them without having to sift through tons of news stories and other things like sports scores in the feed. Today, Google has started the process to update the Google app and is now rolling those changes out to users on Android, which means people are going to start seeing the Upcoming tab in their versions of the app today.

Once updated, the Google app will show two buttons at the bottom of the screen, one for all the news and other details like sports scores or movie ratings, the weather, and more, and another for anything like upcoming events, packages being shipped, flights and similar information. While there are no doubt going to be quite a few users who enjoyed having all of this information in one simple feed to scroll through, many should find it simpler to have the ability to access any information regarding to stuff happening on their schedule.

Google’s aim with the upcoming tab is a simple one. They wanted a way to help users stay organized, so providing users with a card for the news, entertainment, and other interests, and a separate card for appointments, flights, and events was a way for them to help users make the most of the Google app. While the update will likely take the next few days to roll out to all or most Android users, once completed, keeping current on your interests will be just as easy as it always was, and can be access from The Feed, which will be the default page that the Google app opens up to. A quick tap on the Upcoming button on the bottom will switch cards and voila, you have your personal information on upcoming scheduled details right in front of you, allowing you to keep up with your day.
