The Pixel and Pixel XL are Google’s smartphones for 2016. The company had introduced these two smartphones back in October, and these are the first two phones Google designed, both in hardware and software departments. Truth be told, HTC is manufacturing the Pixel phones for Google, but it seems like the Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer did not have anything to do with the design of these two handsets. That being said, Google had introduced Live Cases for the Pixel and Pixel XL two months ago, while they also sell a microfiber-lined silicone case for the two smartphones.
The microfiber-lined silicone case has been available in Gray color variant only, well, at least until now. Google has just announced four additional colors for their microfiber-lined silicone case, Blue, Green, Coral and Peach color variants are now available as well. These cases cost $35, in case you were wondering, and come with a ‘Case by Google’ label. Google’s ‘G’ branding is placed on the back of these cases, and they have a polycarbonate core with a microfiber interior. These cases actually cover the phone’s physical keys, the power / lock and volume rocker keys are covered, as you can see by looking at the images down below. These cases, of course, add some grip to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, as the two smartphones are made out of metal, and even though they’re not as slippery as some other metal-clad devices out there, they’re definitely not grippy either. All of the color variants are now available for purchase from Google, and purchases made by December 25th can be returned through January 22nd, just in case you were wondering.
For those of you who’re not familiar with the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, the Google Pixel sports a 5-inch fullHD AMOLED display, while the Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED panel. Both of them are fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC by Qualcomm, and on their backs, you’ll find a 12.3-megapixel camera. Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on both devices, and the fingerprint scanner is placed on the back of these two smartphones. Both phones ship with 4GB of RAM and come in both 32GB and 128GB storage variants.
