A new Meizu-branded smartphone just surfaced online, and we’re not sure what phone is this supposed to be. If you take a look at the provided images, you’ll get to see the device, and you’ll notice that it’s quite similar to the rest of Meizu’s 2016 lineup. The device sports a physical home button below the display, which is actually Meizu’s multifunctional key which serves as a physical home button, capacitive back key and a fingerprint scanner as well. The device’s power / lock and volume rocker keys are placed on the right, and its SIM card slot is probably located on the left side of its shell.
Now, judging by the first image in the gallery down below, this phone could be marketed as a smartphone for women. Various makeup products are located near the phone in this image, and it seems like is supposed to be Meizu’s offering for women, we’re only guessing, though, of course. In any case, the leak also claims this is one of Meizu’s ‘Blue Charm’ devices, in other words, this is supposed to be one of Meizu’s phones from the ‘M’ line of devices, as that is the international name for Meizu’s ‘Blue Charm’ phones which are usually released in China first. The leak also claims that the phone will sport an LED flash up front in order to improve the selfie camera experience, while you can also expect it to sport a 5-inch display, and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. In addition to that, this phone seems to be made out of metal, and that is pretty much everything we know about it at the moment.
Meizu’s roadmap for 2017 leaked yesterday, and the first smartphone that the company is expected to launch in 2017 is the Meizu M5S, and that phone is expected to arrive in February. Now, the Meizu M5S had been certified in China quite recently, but it seems to be somewhat different than the phone that leaked today. The two devices sport a similar shape, and will be almost identical in size, but the sensors on the front side are positioned differently on these phones, plus the Meizu M5S does not have a front-facing flash. So, this phone seems to be a mystery at the moment, and the roadmap that leaked is either fake, or it is missing one smartphone, presuming this leak is accurate, and this phone is coming, of course.
