Following the announcements of the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and the Moto Z Play smartphones earlier this year, Motorola had decided to announce yet another really capable smartphone, the Moto M. The Moto M is a mid-range smartphone which was announced last month, and is already available for purchase in some regions. Well, India was not one of those regions, at least not until now, read on.
It was rumored that the company is preparing to launch the Moto M in India, and Motorola even confirmed that fact 5 days ago. That being said, the company has just introduced their newest smartphone in India as well. This is almost the same smartphone that was announced last month (different SoC), in case you were wondering, we’re still looking at an all-metal handset here. The Motorola Moto M features the ‘moto’ branding below the display, and the Motorola logo is placed on the back of this phone. The fingerprint scanner is also placed on the phone’s back, and the device’s physical keys are available on the Moto M’s right-hand side. What’s interesting when it comes to the Moto M, is that the phone supports Dolby Atmos audio. The Moto M sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is fueled by the Helio P15 64-bit octa-core processor (same as the Chinese variant of Moto M), compared to the international model which comes with the Snapdragon 617 64-bit octa-core SoC.
This smartphone also sports a 16-megapixel camera (PDAF, f/2.0) on the back, and an 8-megapixel shooter (85-degree wide-angle lens, 1.12um pixel size) is available on the phone’s front side. The 3,050mAh battery is included in this package as well, and it comes with Turbo Charging. You do get 4G LTE connectivity here, and also two SIM card slots (2 x nano SIM), while you can use the second SIM card slot as a way to expand the phone’s internal storage by using a microSD card. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the device, and comes with some additions by Motorola. The Moto M measures 151.35 x 75.35 x 7.85mm, while it weighs 163 grams. The phone comes in Silver and Gold color variants and costs Rs. 15,999 ($237) in the country. Those of you who are interested in purchasing this handset, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow, as the phone will become available exclusively from Flipkart at midnight.
