By most accounts, the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship is bound to be a huge upgrade on the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. While the Galaxy Note 7 was supposed to be a stepping stone between Samsung’s other 2016 flagships and the Galaxy S8, the unfortunate discontinuation of that device likely prompted the South Korean tech giant to up its game and create a smartphone that will awe both consumers and critics alike. Now, seeing how Samsung is counting on the Galaxy S8 to be a huge commercial success and has even reportedly postponed its announcement which is rumored to happen at a standalone event in New York next year, the company is expectedly extremely tight-lipped about its upcoming flagship. In fact, the head of Samsung’s mobile division has recently even called for increased security measures to prevent leaks following the company’s successful attempt to stop a Galaxy S8 prototype from leaking.
Regardless of that, Samsung neither can nor wants to prevent the industry from indulging in speculation, which isn’t surprising seeing how the Galaxy S8 is one of the most anticipated Android smartphones of 2017. With that in mind, six new renders of the upcoming flagship have just surfaced on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging platform. Now, these renders were designed by a Weibo user “KingwayLee” and are neither official nor leaked by a Samsung insider, but they’re still interesting to look at seeing how they’re virtually a manifestation of most of the rumors we’ve been hearing about the Galaxy S8 in recent months. As you can see in the gallery below, the Galaxy S8 depicted in these renders doesn’t feature a 3.5mm audio jack or a physical home button. The device also has significantly smaller bezels than the Galaxy S7 lineup and its lower bezel is now housing a capacitive key which doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
Interestingly enough, this Chinese digital artist opted to design the Galaxy S8 with a single rear camera despite the fact that numerous sources have already claimed Samsung opted for a dual-camera system in order to improve image quality without delivering a device with a camera bump. Regardless of that, these renders are well-done and pleasant to look at, so check them out if you’re in need of your daily Galaxy S8 fix. As it turns out, it may be a while before Samsung finally unveils its latest and greatest flagship, so for the time being, third-party designs like the one below are the best we can get.
