In this day and age, more and more people are turning towards online payment platforms such as PayPal to perform various transactions, be it to purchase an item online, or to send cash to a relative. However, one thing which payment platforms lack when it comes to sending cash as a gift to relatives or friends during the holiday season, are cards with the holiday spirit splashed all over it. Well, that is about to change today, at least for this holiday season as PayPal is debuting new designs for people wanting to send money as a gift through its person-to-person (P2P) payment platform.
PayPal has partnered up with celebrity designer Jonathan Adler, to introduce six new digital holiday gift cards which users can choose from to send along with the cash, instead of the regular e-mail which comes with every transaction performed on PayPal. This new feature for the holiday season is exclusively for PayPal web and mobile users and will be available in 17 countries, including the United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria. The reason PayPal is debuting the new gift card feature is due to the fact that PayPal handles around 17 million payments between its users, and gifts are among the most popular reasons for sending money during the holiday season. PayPal hopes that with its new gift cards, sending money as a gift will feel more personal.
A recent survey carried out by PayPal discovered that the number one gift Americans want this holiday season is money, and 62% of respondents wish that they could ask for cash instead of traditional presents. However, the study also found that the main reason people don’t give money as a present is because they’re afraid cash is not personal enough and this accounted for 63% of the respondents. Sending cash along with the digital gift cards is a simple process, and all you have to do is select Send Money, pick your favorite card design, and send.
