Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 Flagship SoC Pops Up On GFXBench

Qualcomm is considered to be the market leader in the mobile SoC department. This US-based company has been releasing mobile processors for quite some time now, and a ton of 2016 flagships are fueled by their chips, including the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, HTC 10, Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Sony Xperia XZ, Xiaomi Mi Note 2, etc. The Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core processors are the company’s most powerful offerings at the moment, but the Snapdragon 835 is coming soon, read on.

The company had confirmed last month that they will release the Snapdragon 835 instead of Snapdragon 830, as the difference between the Snapdragon 820 / Snapdragon 821 and the upcoming flagship SoC is quite significant it seems. Having that in mind, the Snapdragon 835 has been spotted on GFXBench. If you take a look at the first image in the gallery down below, you’ll get to see that the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core processor is powering an unknown smartphone which was benchmarked by GFXBench, it is even possible this is just a showcase hardware by Qualcomm. This SoC is clocked at 2.2GHz in this case, and the Adreno 540 GPU is also included here, of course. The phone that the SoC fuels sports a 5.9-inch QHD display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Android 7.0 Nougat is installed on it, and the 20-megapixel snapper can be found on the back of this phone. This is not all that important, though, as this is probably just a showcase hardware either way, even though we cannot be sure, of course.

The Snapdragon 835 will be manufactured using the company’s 10nm FinFET process, and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging will be available to manufacturers as well. This fast charging technology is expected to give you 5 hours of battery life in just 5 minutes of charging. The Snapdragon 835 will offer 27% more power in terms of performance, and will consume 40% less power than its predecessor. A number of devices are rumored to be equipped with this SoC already, including the Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Mi 6 and the OPPO Find 9. In any case, you can expect quite a few flagship devices to ship with this processor in 2017.

UPDATE: One image added to the gallery, it shows off benchmarking results of the Adreno 540 GPU.
