Rumor: Galaxy S8 To Sport A 2K Panel, Ditch The Home Button

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are quite probably the most popular smartphones on the planet at the moment, next to Apple’s iPhone offerings. The Galaxy Note 7 did not fare well for the company, as it is not longer for purchase, but the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are still very much available and are selling really well for the company. That being said, the Galaxy S8 is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of next year, and rumors are all over the place, as expected. Samsung is definitely feeling the pressure right about now considering they have to make up for the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.

We’ve seen tons of Galaxy S8 rumors lately, and three separate ones surfaced in the last 24 hours, plus the one that we’ll talk about in this article. Yesterday’s rumors suggested that the Galaxy S8 will ship without a 3.5mm headphone jack, that it will launch in 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch variants, and that the phone will ship with front-facing autofocus considering the fact that Samsung trademarked the so-called ‘Smart AF’ autofocus. Having that in mind, a new rumor just popped up and it suggests that the Galaxy S8 will keep the QHD resolution, in other words, it seems like Samsung has no plans to use a 4K display on the Galaxy S8. That being said, the display on the Galaxy S8 will be made out of a new material, which should boost its quality quite a bit, at least if this rumor is to be believed. The display will sport a standard RGB matrix, but it will consume less power than its predecessor. The display on the Galaxy S8 will, allegedly, ship with a standard RGB arrangement with 11,059,200 pixels, while its predecessor shipped with a Diamond PenTile layout with 7,372,800 pixels.

In addition to this, it is also rumored that the Galaxy S8 will ship without a home button, and that the phone’s screen-to-body ratio will be quite high as well, partially thanks to the fact the company will ditch the home button. The fingerprint scanner will be embedded into the display of the Galaxy S8, which means it will ship with an optical fingerprint scanner. That is more or less it, at least for now, the Galaxy S8 launch event is still far away, so we’ll probably see tons of new rumors and leaks in the coming months.
