Uber Is Introducing Custom Snapchat Filters For Riders

Uber is introducing limited custom Snapchat filters that you can only use during your ride. The partnership between the two services and apps allows for you to request an Uber, make your way to whoever you’re supposed to be meeting, and then send a few custom snaps in the process so they can share in the adventure while you’re on your way to the destination you have set forth. In addition to integrating Snapchat with their app, Uber is also launching a new feature for riders that lets them request an Uber with a person as a destination instead of an actual location of a business or home.

In regards to the Snapchat filters, there will be a handful of options to choose from, including a filter that lets you tell the person you’re meeting when you’ll be showing up. The ETA filter, as it’s called, should come in handy if someone is asking how much longer you’ll be, and now you can let them know from the Uber exactly how much time you have left before you arrive. There are also filters for the ride itself that Uber says users can apply to show people “how they roll,” and you can even use a mystery filter if you don’t feel like choosing and want to leave things up to chance.

The other new feature that’s being launched is the Uber to a Person feature, instead of requesting an Uber to a place. Now, when you open up the Uber app you can sync your contacts with the app, and the next time you need to request a ride you can set the destination as one of your contacts. To do this, Uber has made it simple, and all you have to do is type your friend’s (or family member’s) name in the Where To box. This prompts Uber to send a static location request to the user whose name you typed in, and as long as they accept then you’ll be on your way to wherever they are. Both new features are being rolled out to users and should be available through an app update.
