Uber Now Promoting Rogue One With A Star Wars App Skin

Pop culture usually comes and goes, but Star Wars is one of those franchises that will always generate quite a bit of excitement among the general public. Of course, that isn’t to say there’s no need to advertise the new Star Wars movies, and Disney is well-aware of that fact. So, the Burbank-based entertainment company has recently been hard at work promoting the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff slated for release this Friday, December 16th. In addition to a plethora of traditional advertising, Disney even opted to promote its sci-fi movie through some unconventional means like the recently announced Google Allo sticker pack. That’s not the end of the company’s app-related advertising endeavors as Disney just came to an agreement with Uber, the popular ride-hailing company whose app will now also promote the upcoming Star Wars movie.

More specifically, as of today, Uber users will get access to an exclusive app skin which will turn the ride-hailing Android app into a uniquely themed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story experience. This temporary feature allows you to use the Uber app to watch exclusive video content related to the upcoming movie, as well as turn Uber cars on your map into Star Wars starships. Of course, this is an entirely optional experience which you can completely ignore if you choose to do so. If, however, you’re adamant at turning your Uber app into a Star Wars-themed experience, open it and navigate to the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story card located in the app’s main menu. From here, tap the Activate button located on the said card and continue using the app like you usually would. The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story card can also be used to disable this skin at any time. Uber’s representatives stated that this experience will be available from today until Sunday, December 18th.

While hundreds of cities will get access to this exclusive in-app skin, not every region Uber is available in will be supported. You can check out the new Star Wars-themed Uber experience in the GIF below. If you’re a fan of this idea and are looking forward to the upcoming movie, note that there are plenty of other great Star Wars apps that you can download from the Google Play Store as you’re getting ready for Friday.
