It seems like Nokia is planning to release a new tablet, following the company’s Nokia 6 smartphone which was introduced earlier this month. According to a GFXBench listing, Nokia is working on an 18.4-inch tablet, and thanks to the source, we now get to check out the device’s partial specs. Now, if this listing is to be believed, Nokia’s upcoming tablet will sport an 18.4-inch (2560 x 1440) display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel this phablet, along with the Adreno 540 GPU. The 12-megapixel camera will be available on both its front and back sides, and Android 7.0 Nougat will come pre-installed on the device it seems. 4G LTE, NFC and GPS will also be included in this tablet, according to the source.
Now, this surely comes as a surprise, the company just introduced their first smartphone under HMD Global’s wing, and we’ve seen a number of rumors mentioning their upcoming Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone. Well, if this information is to be believed, Nokia might be working on a really powerful, and yet gigantic tablet. Most of you probably remember the Galaxy View, Samsung’s 18.4-inch tablet, well, if this info is accurate, Nokia will release a similar tablet in the future, so you all know how huge it will be. HMD Global decided to purchase Nokia branding rights from Microsoft a while back, and the company now has a license to release Nokia-branded devices for the next 10 years. The company already announced that we can expect quite a few devices this year, and even though they’ll focus on budget devices, like the Nokia 6, it seems like we might see some higher-end offerings from the company as well.
As some of you might already know, Nokia had introduced an Android-powered tablet back in November 2014, the Nokia N1. That tablet was actually quite solid, but its availability was quite limited, as it was basically never available outside of Asia, which disappointed quite a few people. Well, consumers are hoping that the company’s new tablet will be available in far more regions, though it remains to be seen whether their next tablet will be as huge as GFXBench leads us to believe.
