Just ahead of the start of CES 2017, Acer has introduced their latest Chromebook as the Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731). This is the newest Acer Chromebook to join their range of 11.6-inch Chromebooks and is one which looks to differentiate itself from the others by not only being a functional and capable Chromebook, but also being one which is more durable. Acer has yet to firmly state when the Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) will go on sale, although it is due to become available sometime this month (January). In terms of price, Acer has confirmed that the Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) will be available to buy starting from $229.99. As this is a model which will be available in multiple spec configurations, that price will be relevant to the baseline model. Although firm details on the price of premium tiered versions have yet to be confirmed.
The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) looks to achieve a heightened level of durability by coming equipped with a build quality that meets a U.S. MIL-STD 810G military standard. According to Acer, the Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) is able to withstand a downward force (on its top cover) of up to 132 pounds, while it also able to survive being dropped from a height of 48-inches. Although, the Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) does come with an anti-slip pattern which looks to prevent the Chromebook from slipping out of a user’s hand in the first place. In addition, it is protected against the various elements including high temperature, low temperature, rain, humidity, vibration and mechanical shock. Likewise, both the hinges and the case are reinforced to ensure that they are able to withstand the greater levels of resistance.
In terms of the more common specs, the display on the Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) employs a 1366 x 768 resolution, while inside you can expect to find 4GB RAM and an Intel Celeron (N3060) dual-core processor powering the show. According to Acer, there will be two storage models on offer, one touting 16GB eMMC storage and the other 32GB eMMc storage. While, in terms of ports, this Chromebook comes loaded with two USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, a HDMI port and a 3.5 mm headphone/speaker jack port. The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) measures 11.72-inches in width, 8.27-inches in depth, 0.87-inches in height and weighs in at 2.93 lbs. Lastly, the Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) comes powered by a 4,090 mAh battery which is rated to offer up to 12 hours of usage off the charge.
