AKG Acoustics together with parent company Harman International Industries introduced a new pair of noise-cancelling headphones at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, called the AKG N60 NC Wireless. As the moniker suggests, the headphones are a follow-up to the AKG N60 NC we reviewed earlier in 2016, with the main difference lying in the fact that the new model connects wirelessly through Bluetooth. Along with these on-ear models, the company also introduced a new pair of earbuds at CES 2017, called the AKG N20 NC.
The AKG N60 NC Wireless noise-cancelling headphones have been designed with the needs of travelers and commuters in mind, “eliminating the hassle of wires without sacrificing AKG’s renowned sound”. The new headphones retain the previous model’s ultra-compact folding design and make use of the same AKG Active Noise-Cancelling technology used in the wired predecessor, which was selected by Lufthansa Airlines as their official headphones for business class cabins. According to the manufacturer, the technology was “specifically designed to balance out lower-frequency ambient noise” such as plane humming, which should appeal to travelers and commuters who tend to fly or travel by train frequently. The headphones provide up to 30-hours battery life and feature a universal remote/mic cable and bypass cable. The design incorporates a “3D-Axis” folding mechanism for easy storage, and the product is wrapped in a fully accessorized traveling package including a carrying pouch and flight adaptor. As for the in-ear AKG N20 NC wired earbuds, the manufacturer claims that they offer best-in-class active noise canceling technology, and up to 20-hours of battery life. The product has been built using “premium materials” including tangle-free fabric cable and will be shipped win a carrying case accommodating a flight adaptor.
The AKG N60 NC Wireless headphones will be available for purchase from the manufacturer’s official website and select retailers beginning April 2017. The product will be available in black, and will be accompanied by a price tag of $299.95. The wired in-ear AKG N20 NC will also be available in black, and is expected to hit the market through the same channels later in the summer of 2017 for the price of $199.
