Less than a year ago, Taiwanese electronics manufacturer ASUS, launched a mid-range smartphone, called the ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3. It was sold mainly in China, and it’s successor has just been launched, coming in the form of the ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3S. ASUS is widely known for its ZenFone smartphones, which are known to pack decent specs and are sold at decent prices. In recent times, ASUS has been shifting its focus to the high-end smartphone market, with the release of its ASUS ZenFone 3 and the subsequent Deluxe versions. However, the ZenFone Pegasus 3S, is not one of the company’s premium smartphones, instead it is meant for users, who are looking for a mid-range smartphone. The ZenFone Pegasus 3S isn’t a big handset, sporting a 5.2-inch HD IPS display, which is covered with 2.5D glass. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor, clocked at 1.5GHz. When it comes to storage, the smartphone sports 3GB of RAM coupled with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB if need be, via a microSD card slot. For optics, the handset comes with a 13-megapixel shooter on its rear, with a f/2.0 aperture, LED flash, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and PixelMaster technology incorporated into the camera, which ASUS is known for doing on most of its smartphones. Moving to the front, an 8-megapixel shooter can be found, along with the same PixelMaster technology built into it. The highlight of this device is the large 5,000 mAh battery built into this device, which is slated to last up to 30 days on standby, on a single charge.
The ZenFone Pegasus 3S comes with Android 7.0 Nougat, and it is also one of the major features of this device. Connectivity options of this device includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and also a micro USB port to charge up the battery. A fingerprint scanner is also embedded in the home button and can save up to five fingerprints. As for pricing and availability, the device is priced at 1,999 Yuan ($288) for the 64GB model, while the price of the 32GB model hasn’t been announced yet. It will be available for purchase later this month, and it is unlikely this device will be sold outside of Asia.
