During CES 2017, Alcatel announced a number of things, including the launch of a brand new affordable smartphone line. This is their Alcatel A series. At the same time, Alcatel announced the debut smartphone from the A series as the Alcatel A3 XL. This is a smartphone which looks to be affordable, provide a focus on security, and offer the owner a large display experience.
As such, the first thing to notice with the Alcatel A3 XL is that it comes with a 6-inch display. However, in spite of being a larger display, this is a smartphone that is designed to be affordable and that does mean that the resolution is one of the areas where you are compromising – as the A3 XL comes with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Likewise, the rest of the base specs are also fairly budget-oriented, with the A3 XL packing 1GB RAM, 8GB storage and a MediaTek (MT8735B) processor. The cameras is another area where you are not getting the most cutting-edge hardware, but certainly enough to get you through. The rear-facing camera comes in an 8-megapixel form and the front-facing camera offers 5-megapixels.
That said, this is a smartphone that is security-focused and that does mean that it does come with some additional security-enhanced features like a fingerprint scanner. In addition, the battery on offer with the A3 XL is a 3,000 mAh capacity battery. While the smartphone is topped off with Android 7.0 (Nougat), the latest version of Android. A combination of features that you are less likely to get from other affordable smartphones and ones that are certainly selling points for the Alcatel A3 XL. While this is smartphone that is being pushed towards the affordable end of the market, Alcatel has yet to provide any firm details on how affordable the A3 XL will be due to the lack of any confirmed pricing or availability. However, it is expected that the A3 XL will become available in select regions over the coming months. In the meantime, you can take a closer look at this new arrival (and first of the Alcatel A range) in more detail by checking out the images below.
