Samsung will not announce the Galaxy S8 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this year, Head of Samsung Mobile has just confirmed. DJ Koh, Samsung Mobile’s chief, shared the news with Reuters, though he did not exactly say when will the company introduce their new flagship. We’ve seen a ton of rumors regarding Galaxy S8’s launch timeframe, and most of them point to April, which seems even more possible at the moment, as the company has no plans to introduce the Galaxy S8 during MWC 2017 which is taking place between February 27th and March 2nd.
As most of you probably already know, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge during last year’s MWC, so at first, it seemed logical they’d do the same with the Galaxy S8 this year. Well, that won’t be the case, and the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco could be a reason why, at least a partial reason. Samsung will, almost certainly, introduce the Galaxy S8 (and quite possibly the rumored Galaxy S8 Plus handset) in late March or April perhaps. We have seen quite a few rumors and leaks when it comes to the Galaxy S8, and based on that info, we’ll get two Galaxy S8 models, the regular Galaxy S8 handset, and the Galaxy S8 Plus, which is allegedly a larger variant of the company’s upcoming flagship. If rumors are to be believed, both of these devices will sport curved displays, and it is even possible that the company plans to include the S Pen stylus with both of these devices.
Rumors are also claiming that this year’s Galaxy S8 devices won’t sport a physical home key below the display, as it seems like Samsung is planning to switch to on-screen buttons. The Galaxy S8 will probably sport a considerably smaller display compared to the Galaxy S8 Plus which is rumored to pack in a 6.2-inch panel. Chances are that these two phones will not feature any bezels on the sides, at least that’s what rumors and leaks have been suggesting over the last couple of months.
