HTC had introduced the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play earlier today, the company’s new smartphones. Well, we’ve managed to get our hands on a number of official images for both of these devices, quite a bit more than HTC sent us. We already have plenty of coverage when it comes to both of these smartphones on the site, including their official announcement and detailed specification posts. Let’s take a closer look at the design of these two phones, shall we.
The HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play look quite similar, they both sport what HTC calls ‘Liquid Surface’ design, as they’re both symmetrical, and their metal chassis is placed in between two sheets of glass. The 128GB storage variant of the HTC U Ultra is an exception, though, as that phone comes with a sapphire display. In any case, the HTC U Ultra is the company’s new flagship, and it is considerably more powerful than the HTC U Play, and it also features a secondary ‘Dual Display’ above its main panel. Both of these phones feature a home button below the display, which serves as both a home key and a fingerprint scanner. This is a capacitive button, and is not a physical key, just so that we’re clear about that. The home button is flanked by back and overview (multitasking) keys on its left and right sides, respectively. The main camera protrudes on both devices, and physical keys (power / lock and volume rockers) are placed on the right-hand side on both of these phones.
As you can see in the gallery down below, these two handsets are available in a number of different color variants. To be more exact, they will be available for purchase in Brilliant Black, Sapphire Blue, Ice White and Cosmetic Pink color variants. The HTC U Ultra is a phablet, and it sports a 5.7-inch QHD display, while its secondary display measures 2.05 inches. The phone packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of native storage, while it is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 SoC. The HTC U Play, on the other hand, features a 5.2-inch fullHD display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of native storage. The HTC U Play is fueled by the Helio P10 processor by MediaTek, a mid-range chip.
