Google’s G Suite is getting a few tweaks to scheduling meetings in the Calendar app on the web that the mobile versions have had for a while, and Google has also announced that older versions of Google Drive and its related apps will begin to see depreciation efforts beginning in April. The web version of G Suite’s Calendar app is picking up the ability to help with room selection for a meeting, as well as the ability to show a guest’s time zone in the “Find a Time” feature. Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, meanwhile, will soon begin urging users on older versions of the apps to upgrade, and will force them to in March. The apps will reach complete depreciation status by April.

The changes to G Suite’s web Calendar app are changes that the mobile versions of the app have had for some time now. For starters, when looking for a room to hold a meeting in, the app will help you out by suggesting a room based on who you’re meeting with, and the rooms that you have both used for meetings in the past. You are still free to select a room of your choosing, of course. The changes to “Find a Time,” on the other hand, allow you to view what local time the meeting will be happening for other participants, helping to ensure you’re not keeping anybody up too late or making anybody wake up too early for an event.

The depreciation of older Drive apps applies to versions that are fairly far back, but those on older devices who are stuck with outdated versions of Android that are incompatible with more recent versions may end up in the cold. Most of the versions being depreciated, for example, are recent enough that the small crop of users still on Android 2.3 Gingerbread would have issues. Both Android and iOS are affected. On the Android side, users still working with anything older than version 2.4.311 of the Drive app and version 1.6.292 of Docs, Sheets, and Slides will see depreciation efforts booting them off of their apps. The update to Google Calendar should be live for as of now for users.
