Guitar Tuning App 'Fender Tune' Now Available On Android

Guitar tuning app Fender Tune is now available to download from the Google Play Store free of charge. The app was developed by Fender Digital, a division of Fender Musical Instruments that claims its latest creation features an intuitive user interface which allows for 22 different tunings of acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. The digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm utilized by Fender Tune was designed for extremely accurate pitch detection which consequently enables users to have a straightforward tuning experience. The app reportedly does a great job of identifying low-frequency pitches to help users tune their instruments more efficiently. A broad arrange of tuning presets allows everyone to quickly start tuning guitars using Fender Tune, even if they don’t have a lot of experience with this activity.

The app also boasts an Auto-tune mode designed to guide users towards a perfect pitch and features simple, easy-to-follow diagrams. Apart from this completely automated functionality, Fender Tune features a full Manual Tune Mode and a Chromatic Mode. In addition to presets, the app also helps beginners by offering them a wide variety of tips, most of which are detailed and illustrated. Fender Digital is hoping that its app will help amateur musicians train their ears, learn how to use a guitar pick, and realize the difference between flat and sharp notes, among other things. While this isn’t the only guitar tuning tool on the Google Play Store, it seems to be one of the more feature-packed ones.

Fender Tune started rolling out yesterday and should already be available for download worldwide. The vanilla version of the app features no ads or in-app purchases. Fender Tune is only a few megabytes in size and supports all devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and newer, meaning the app should work on most contemporary smartphones and tablets. Fender Tune originally debuted on iOS devices last summer and the Android port of the app seemingly sports all features present in the original version. The launch of Fender Tune marks Fender Digital’s first foray into Android development. Although, it remains to be seen whether Fender Digital will also port its other iOS apps to Android in the future.
