The HTC U Ultra is the company’s new flagship, and we’ve already covered its main announcement. The company had introduced this smartphone earlier today, along with the HTC U Play. The HTC U Ultra is not the Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone rumors have been hinting at, but it comes with the Snapdragon 821, and is quite powerful, while it also packs in some new tech HTC developed / included. Having that in mind, we’re here to take a closer look at the HTC U Ultra’s spec sheet, so, let’s do that.
The HTC U Ultra is made out of metal and glass, it sports a symmetrical design. The most expensive model of this smartphone, one with 128GB of internal storage, comes with a sapphire display on its front side, while the regular 64GB storage variant sports Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Speaking of which, the HTC U Ultra sports a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super LCD main display, while the secondary ‘Dual Display’ comes with a 2.05-inch display with a resolution of 160 x 1040. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core processor running at 2.15GHz, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. This phablet packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card).
On the back of the HTC U Ultra, you’ll be able to find a 12-megapixel UltraPixel 2 OIS camera (1.55um pixel size, BSI sensor, PDAF, f/1.8 aperture), along with the dual-LED, dual tone flash and Laser Autofocus. This camera can record slow motion videos in 720p resolution at 120fps, while it is capable of shooting 4K videos with 3D, hi-res audio as well. There are a number of modes packed into this camera, from Panorama, Auto HDR all the way to Hyperlapse and Zoe capture. A 16-megapixel snapper is available on the front side of the HTC U Ultra, and it comes with the UltraPixel mode. This is a BSI sensor, and you can shoot fullHD videos using this camera.
The HTC U Ultra packs in HTC U-Sonic and HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition, as far as audio is concerned. You do get 3D Audio recording here, as the device packs in 4 microphones, and the device is hi-res audio certified. The HTC U Ultra will be available in both single SIM and dual SIM variants, and the single SIM model will offer support for both FDD and TDD LTE, here are the details: FDD bands – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 28 ; TDD bands – 38, 39, 40, 41 with 2CA, 3CA. We’re talking about Cat. 11 LTE here, while VoLTE and WiFi calling are also included. The Type-C USB 3.1 port is placed on the bottom of this phone, and a 3,000mAh battery is also included in the package, along with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed here with HTC’s Sense UI, while the device measures 162.41 x 79.79 x 3.6-7.99mm, and weighs 170 grams.
