Meizu M5S Pops Up On Geekbench Following Its Certification

The Meizu M5S has just popped up on Geekbench. The Meizu M5S is Meizu’s upcoming budget smartphone, which is essentially a new variant of the Meizu M5 which was introduced earlier this year. This device is expected to land in February, as per the company’s recently-leaked roadmap for 2017. In any case, the Meizu M5S managed to score 572 points in the single-core benchmark, while the multi-core benchmark reported a score of 2,481 points.

Geekbench also reveals that this device will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and on top of it, you’ll get the company’s Android-based Flyme OS, quite probably Flyme 6, which is the latest iteration of the company’s Android skin. Geekbench says that the Meizu M5S will be fueled by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, and that it will come with 2GB of RAM. Well, the phone had already been certified by both TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) and the 3C certification authority. Thanks to those listings, we do know what the device will look like, and also what specs will it sport, Geekbench’s listing only confirmed what we already knew basically. The Meizu M5S will, unlike its siblings, the Meizu M5, feature a full metal body. The 2GB RAM variant is not the only variant of this phone Meizu intends to launch, as TENAA reported that both the 3GB and 4GB RAM models are also in plans. Those three RAM models will ship with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, respectively.

The Meizu M5S will feature a 5.2-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, while it will sport a 13-megapixel camera on the back. The 5-megapixel shooter will be included on the phone’s front side, and a 2,930mAh battery will be a part of this package as well, and it will not be removable. The Meizu M5S actually looks similar to a number of other devices Meizu released last year, while the company’s multifunctional physical home key is also present here, and it will act as a physical home key, capacitive back key, and also a fingerprint scanner. That is more or less it, the device will be announced next month it seems, so stay tuned.
