Throwing teaser images for things that will be at CES on Twitter seems to be in vogue this week, and the official Motorola Fans account on Twitter is getting in on the fun with an exclusive CES teaser picture that they managed to get their hands on. Moto hasn’t yet rolled out their newest wares on the trade show floor, but the teaser image gleaned from parts unknown by Motorola Fans points to three new devices that Moto could show off at CES this year, though there may be others not included in the image. A new smartphone is absent, which means that the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and Moto Z Play will probably remain the focus of Moto’s phone efforts for now, though various rumors and leaks of late have pointed to a new Moto X.
Regarding the three devices shown in the teaser image, we are looking at what appears to be a camera of some sort front and center. This camera seems small, if the image is indeed to scale in regards to product sizes, so it may in fact be a Moto Mod for the Moto Z family. The small camera sports a Moto dimple, along with a large lens and dual LED flash. To the left of the camera, we can see a pair of wireless sport earbuds that don’t quite resemble anything in Moto’s past or present Bluetooth headphone lineup. They’re quite large, and feature inline controls.
The far right device seems to be a Bluetooth headset, but if it’s going to show up at CES, it’s probably not just any headset. With Sony’s Xperia Ear just hitting the market and garnering positive reviews, there’s a chance that Moto could be giving the Moto Hint another chance, feeling that the world may be ready this time around; to be sure, the first incarnation didn’t exactly make reviewers swoon, so if it is a new Moto Hint, there are likely to be numerous improvements. The look of the mystery Bluetooth earpiece certainly seems to carry the possibility of a sequel or spiritual successor to the Hint, though a Moto dimple containing a single button could be just about anything; a button to trigger a voice assistant, an end call button for a normal headset, or something new entirely. The teaser doesn’t come with much information at all, so we’ll just have to wait and see exactly what Moto has up their sleeve.
