OnePlus announced that it will not be releasing any open beta software updates for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T for about a month, presumably until late February. OnePlus engineers will be taking a break for the Lunar New Year, commonly referred to as the Chinese New Year, but they’ll be getting right back to work after that short vacation.
This news directly from a staff member of OnePlus who posted on the company’s official forums and announced the upcoming break while also stating that all engineers are looking forward to picking up where they left off as they’ll continue improving the OxygenOS with the community after the holidays are over. This announcement only concerns open beta releases, and while OnePlus made no mention of stable builds for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T, it is likely safe to assume that these will also be put on pause until the holiday period is over. This year, the Chinese New Year begins on January 28 and will end 15 days later. So, if you are experiencing issues with your new OnePlus-made flagship and are waiting for the company to push out an update to fix it, you will have to wait until their staff gets back to work in the second half of February. One such issue plaguing the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T is the touch latency issue whereby there is a noticeable delay between the moment a user touches the screen and the moment the device responds. This was first noticed by users last November before Android 7.0 Nougat was pushed out to both devices. However, the issue persisted even after Nougat rolled out on both phones.
