Nokia Announces Feb. 26th Event; New Android Phone Coming?

New Nokia-branded smartphone seems to be on the way, and it could ship with Qualcomm’s all new Snapdragon 835 SoC. HMD Global launched the Nokia 6 a couple of days ago, their first Android smartphone, though that was a budget device. Well, according to some info that just surfaced in China, HMD Global is preparing a Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone for MWC 2017. In addition to that, the company has also confirmed that they’re planning to release something new on February 26th, read on.

HMD Global held a meeting in China earlier today, and during that meeting, there was some talk about the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona which kicks off on February 27th. Now, the image that you can see down below does not exactly mention the Snapdragon 835, but HMD Global did talk about the Snapdragon 835 in the past, and they suggested that their Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone will become a reality. HMD Global said that such a device will take some time to prepare, and that they’ll wait for the perfect time to release it. Well, is MWC 2017 the perfect time to release such a smartphone? Well, it could be for HMD Global, mainly considering they’re trying to revive the Nokia brand, and what better way to do it than to release a Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone at one of the largest tradeshows in the world? Truth be told, there’s a lot of speculation here on our part, but… well, it could happen, all the signs are there.

Now, in addition to this, the company has also decided to officially tease something new for February 26th. The company has revealed this info via Facebook, this is what they wrote: “Get ready! The Nokia 6 is coming to China! More announcements to follow on February 26th… Save the date!” So, we’re presuming that they plan to introduce at least one new smartphone at the Mobile World Congress, right? The date fits, and even though it’s possible this could be a teaser for the international launch for the Nokia 6 (though we doubt it considering Nokia’s phrasing today), it’s also possible that the company is planning to release their rumored flagship, and if that’s the case, then the Snapdragon 835 will probably fuel it. In any case, stay tuned.
