Syntonic Announces Sponsored Data Support for Verizon

At CES 2017, Syntonic announced that they are launching their Sponsored Data app, Freeway, onto Verizon. Noting that they are now on two of the three largest wireless carriers in the world – AT&T and Verizon. The Freeway by Syntonic app allows users to use some of their favorite apps without the data counting against their data cap. Which is becoming an increasingly more popular thing, with data caps remaining fairly small and data speeds getting faster and faster.

In their press release, Syntonic praises how sponsored data is an “innovative model” and how it allows content providers and advertisers to zero-rate data. So that users can continue to use their services without having to worry about going over their data cap. Syntonic notes that their app “gives app developers and publishers a frictionless way to acquire, engage and monetize consumers.” They also cite a survey that was recently done by the CTIA, noting that 94% of people between 18 and 34 years of age have indicated that they would be willing to try a new service if they had free data. Syntonic’s CEO and co-founder, Gary Greenbaum in a prepared statement said that their “support for Verizon Wireless with Freeway by Syntonic is a tremendous milestone for our technology, and the progression of sponsored data services as a whole.”

The app is pretty simple to use. It’s available on both the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, so you can use it on either Android or iOS. After you download it, just browse through the offers and in many cases all you need to do is download an app to get the free data. For example, you could download Expedia and get 200MB of free data to use on the app. This can be very helpful if you are already looking to book a flight, or a hotel, as you’ll want to use an app like Expedia anyways, so this way you are saving data and thus saving money. Once you’ve completed the offer, you can start using your data right away. Additionally, there is no limit on how many offers you can claim.

Starting today, Verizon Wireless subscribers will be able to use Freeway by Syntonic on their devices and be able to get zero rated data. You can download it from the Google Play Store using the download link below.
