T-Mobile Tuesdays App Now Supports Sending Gifts

T-Mobile has announced that as of next Tuesday, January 24th, users of its T-Mobile Tuesdays app will be able to send gifts to anybody, even if their recipients of choice are not T-Mobile customers. The press release from T-Mobile states that this feature is permanent, meaning that customers will be able to hand over their free Lyft rides, gas discounts, and Subway sandwiches, among other gifts, to anybody they wish going forward. However, T-Mobile’s announcement does mention the word “select,” implying that only certain gifts can be given away. Finally, the press release revealed what next week’s T-Mobile Tuesdays gifts would be, stating that some gifts will be provided twice to allow users to give one away and keep one for themselves.

This coming Tuesday, T-Mobile customers and their giftees will be able to take advantage of the usual $15 Lyft ride as the app will provide them with a single Lyft coupon. Besides that, users will get two gas discounts for Shell stations allowing them to save $0.25 per gallon, up to 20 gallons. A pair of free movie rentals from FandangoNOW rounds out the T-Mobile Tuesdays gift roster for the next week. All three rewards on offer require a free user account like a Fandango account or a Shell Fuel Rewards account. As with most weekly rewards offered by T-Mobile Tuesdays, users and giftees will be able to take advantage of all promotions until Wednesday.

In the press release, the third largest carrier in the United States mentioned the impact of T-Mobile Tuesdays and the number of prizes given out so far. Currently, the app has around ten million downloads on file, with some six million customers redeeming huge amounts of rewards. As a customer advocacy and retention measure, the T-Mobile Tuesdays app has reportedly been quite effective, though there is no real way of knowing just what sort of an impact it may be having on bringing in new subscribers. However, attracting subscribers with T-Mobile Tuesdays is now one of the main goals of the new gifting system seeing how users are now able to send their gifts to other people outside of T-Mobile’s network.
