TCL has announced a new stylish smartband at CES 2017 called the MOVEBAND BT, their latest offering in the MOVE wearables lineup. The MOVEBAND BT focuses on providing the user with a well-rounded experience that can be expected from really any wearable, but TCL have designed the MOVEBAND BT with two things in mind specifically, and that’s the stylish design of the smartband so it’s able to blend in with everyday clothing like any other piece of jewelry or fashion accessory, and the battery life of the smartband so users can wear it for an extended period of time that surpasses the battery life of many other wearables before they need to recharge it.
TCL states that they have blended “italian design with the latest tech” to create the MOVEBAND BT, and are offering the smartband with a range of leather strap options for users to choose from. There are multiple colors available including a Black, Brown, White, and Blue color, and TCL is offering two different strap types including a women-focused double strap, and single strap that’s meant to be unisex so it can be worn by either men or women. There will also be multiple colors for the tracker unit itself including a Rose Gold, Black, and Silver. Aside from the long-lasting battery life which TCL boasts can last up to 30 days on standby with a single charge, the MOVEBAND BT is IP67 rated meaning it’s waterproof and dustproof so you can wear it worry free, it supports Bluetooth 4.2 for connectivity, has a 50mAh battery inside and it features a couple of different tracking functions.
Since the MOVEBAND BT lacks an LCD display interactions happen through a companion app which can be downloaded onto your smartphone, and it will only vibrate and light up to notify users about things like incoming messages, emails, missed calls and more. The smartphone app is compatible with both Android and iOS as well making this a versatile smartband. As far as tracking functions go, it can monitor your sleep and track your steps so the tracking is a tad bit more basic, and doesn’t deliver things such as heart rate tracking, GPS, or numerous other features you’ll find on a more expensive tracker. That said, the MOVEBAND BT is not meant to be the most high-end and powerful wearable, but rather a wearable that can provide you with the basics that one really needs in day to day life. There is no confirmed price point yet for the MOVEBAND BT, but TCL will be launching it in March and they state that it will be available through multiple retailers.
