Trump Administration Twitter Accounts Secured with Gmail

It appears that not only does the President have his Twitter account tied to a Gmail account, but so does the Press Secretary, Sean Spicer. At least with Vice President Mike Pence, you have to know the actual email address or phone number tied to the account. But with President Trump and Spicer, it shows you that they are using Gmail. Not exactly the most secure email provider out there.

For some “hackers” it was pretty easy to see what email President Trump had tied to his Twitter account. Simply go to “Forgot Password”, then type in “POTUS” and you’ll see part of an email address. It appears to belong to Dan Scavino who is the President’s Social media Advisor (it appears that the email addresses associated with the account has changed, while we were writing this post). With his Press Secretary Sean Spicer, it appears that he too is using a Gmail account to secure his Twitter account, and it looks like its something similar to [email protected]. Definitely not hard to figure out, and considering how valuable the @POTUS Twitter handle really is (it can legitimately start a nuclear war), you would think Trump and his team would find a better way to secure his Twitter account. After all, it doesn’t appear to be all that difficult to get into it.

What’s interesting is that Trump has better security on his own personal Twitter account than on his @POTUS account. Which is the account he seems to be using more than his official Twitter account for his new job. This is something that his security team will likely be taking a look at and changing in the near future. But that is if they can get Trump to hand over his unsecured Android smartphone (which is believed to be the nearly five-year old Galaxy S3). It was reported this week that Trump had not given up his device, in favor of a more secure one. And many in the security world believe that hackers could use his unsecured device to listen in on top-secret conversations. Something that the President has numerous times a day. Of course, there’s no way to prove that he is still using that phone or not at this point.
