Today, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, which means he will be going through a number of changes. One of those changes is his smartphone. Gone is his personal Android smartphone, which he has been using on the campaign trail and as President-Elect to Tweet to his millions of followers. He now has a more secure smartphone, which Obama once described as something that a kid would have as a toy. Seeing as there isn’t much he can do with that smartphone, he can’t make outgoing calls, take pictures or text. This new number for soon to be President Trump, is only available to a select few people.
Aside from not being able to use functions that most “dumb” phones can do, Trump won’t be able to install any of his favorite applications from the Google Play Store. Instead, all applications have to be approved by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), before they can be installed on his device. So it’s really not a smartphone, but more of just a phone that people can use to get a hold of him, like perhaps his chief of staff. Many experts have been a bit worried about Trump and his Twitter usage. Now with this smartphone not allowing him to use Twitter really, does that mean he won’t be able to use Twitter? Unlikely. Obama did use Twitter, although it was pretty sparingly compared to what Trump did as President-Elect, Obama used to Tweet from another device, so that will likely be what President Trump does once he takes office today.
Trump will be sworn in as president of the United States at 12:01PM EST today, and become the nation’s 45th president. Many people aren’t sure what Trump will do, and in fact he has the lowest favorable rating in modern history – even lower then President Bush in 2001. Trump isn’t a traditional politician, so it’s going to be interesting to see what he does once he gets into office later today. One thing is for sure, American’s are in for quite a few surprises over the next four years, with Donald Trump running the show.
