President-elect Donald Trump is set to be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States next week, on January 20th. And much like the election coverage leading up to November 8th, where the United States voted for Donald Trump to become the 45th President, the Inauguration will also be live streamed on Twitter. So those that aren’t able to make it to Washington DC to see the billionaire inaugurated and become the next President in person, can watch it on their phones using the Twitter app, or even on Twitter’s website.
Inauguration takes place next Friday, January 20th and it will occur from 11AM EST to about 5PM EST, now that doesn’t mean that the Inauguration is 6 hours long, but that’s how long they’ll be live streaming the event. The coverage on Twitter is being done by PBS NewsHour. The good thing about Twitter live streaming the Inauguration is the fact that people outside of the US will be able to watch Donald Trump take the oath of the Presidency of the United States, similar to the debates that the social media company live streamed last year, leading up to the election.
Live streaming the Inauguration is a pretty big deal for Twitter, it’s going to bring in a whole bunch of eyes, and that’s really the main reason for the company doing this. You see, Twitter has been long struggling with ways to bring in more users to their platform. They have been working to get some live streaming content on the platform over the past few months, in the hopes that more and more people would use the service, or at least watch the content on their service. They live streamed all three of the debates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in 2016, as well as all of the Thursday Night Football games from the NFL, which brought in some pretty large numbers for the platform, and the Inauguration should be no different. While not everyone is in favor of Trump running the country, one thing is for sure, there’s going to be millions of eyes on Washington next Friday.
