Titanium Backup has pushed out their latest update, bringing them to version 8.0.0, which brings in a few new features, but perhaps the biggest feature is support for Adoptable Storage. It was announced by the team earlier this month that they were working on Adoptable Storage and would have it available soon. Well it’s now available. All you need to do is head to the Google Play Store and update your version of Titanium Backup to take advantage of it. What this means is that users of devices like the Moto Z, HTC 10 and a few others that use Adoptable Storage will be able to backup everything, even items on their micro SD card. Which is a pretty big deal.
Of course, backing up data in Adoptable Storage isn’t the only big change in this version. Titanium Backup has also added the ability to “force move” apps to or from Adoptable Storage. Typically, some apps are able to be placed on Adoptable Storage, while others have to stay on internal storage, due to different permissions and such (this is largely due to piracy). Well now you’ll be able to put whatever apps you want onto Adoptable Storage. Additionally, for the PRO version of Titanium Backup, they have upgraded to Dropbox API v2. If you use Dropbox to upload your backups, you’ll need to re-authenticate your account. Finally, Titanium Backup has updated some translations within the app.
Titanium Backup is a pretty popular backup app, those that like to flash custom ROMs use it quite a bit as they can back up everything on their device and restore it pretty easily. Making things simple for those that flash custom ROMs often, or even daily, without needing to reset up a device every time. Titanium Backup has continued to evolve over the years, and it’s still one of the best apps for backing up and restoring data. Some features are hidden behind a paywall and a root permission, but there’s virtually nothing you can’t backup with Titanium Backup. You can download this app, if for some reason you’ve never used it, by heading to the Google Play Store.
