It seems like Xiaomi will be able to secure enough Snapdragon 835 SoCs for their upcoming Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship, at least according to the latest rumor. Kevin Wang is a China-based analyst, and a research director at IHS China, and he shared this piece of info. We’ve been seeing tons of Xiaomi Mi 6 rumors lately, and most of them reported that the phone will ship with the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, which is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date. Those rumors did not seem most reliable mainly because reports have been claiming that Samsung managed to grab all of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chips from the first batch.
For those of you who don’t know, Samsung is actually manufacturing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chips, and it seems like the company managed to trump its competitors. The recently announced HTC U Ultra smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 SoC because of this, and it seems like the LG G6 will be as well. Now, according to Mr. Kevin Wang, Xiaomi will not have issues when it comes to the Snapdragon 835, while he also added that all of Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi 6 flagships will be fueled by the Snapdragon 835, it seems like the company has no plans to release a considerably more affordable variant of the Mi 6 fueled by the Helio X30, as some rumors have suggested. Mr. Wang also added that the Snapdragon 835 will be tuned to its full processor frequency, Xiaomi has no intention of lowering its frequency according to the source.
Now, if rumors are to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will sport a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM and several internal storage models will be available. The Snapdragon 835 SoC will fuel the Xiaomi Mi 6, and it will pack at least a 3,000mAh battery on the inside. Android Nougat will come pre-installed on the device, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 OS. The device is expected to land in March, while its sales will probably commence in April, though nothing is certain at the moment. Do stay tuned, though, we’ll report back soon.
