The Android 7.0 Nougat update for Moto Z Play units in Germany has been delayed. While the update was initially being rolled out at the end of January, Motorola Germany has announced in a tweet that the update has been delayed. When Twitter users questioned the company regarding the delay, Motorola Germany replied stating that details cannot be shared at the moment. The company went on to state that the upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat will continue its rollout sometime in early March, which is over a month from the initial release date. However, this only applies to the Moto Z Play, not the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The update for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force in Germany began its rollout a few days back and Motorola Germany did not include both devices in its tweet, so it is safe to assume the Android 7.0 Nougat rollout for these two devices will continue.
Just a few days back, Motorola Germany posted a tweet which stated that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Moto Z lineup was being rolled out. While the update for the Moto Z Play in Germany has been delayed, the update is still being rolled out to the device in other European countries, and this began last week. Initially, it was thought that the update was merely a soak test being done by Motorola on a small batch of devices, but it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore as Moto Z devices in many countries have started receiving the jump to Android 7.0 Nougat. Motorola plans to update its other devices to Android 7.0 Nougat too, and this includes devices from the budget friendly Moto G4 series. The Android 7.0 Nougat update is expected to be rolled out to the Moto G4 series at the end of February in Germany. The Moto X series will only receive Android 7.0 Nougat during May.
The Moto Z Play is a mid-range offering from the Moto Z lineup, though it is compatible with all current Moto Mods. It packs a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display and is powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor featuring eight cores clocked at 2.0GHz, as well as the Adreno 506 GPU. Under the hood, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage can be found. The device packs a 16-megapixel camera on its rear with laser autofocus, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and dual LED flash. The front side of the Moto Z Play boasts a 5-megapixel shooter along with a flash. It packs a rather large 3,510mAh battery and supports the proprietary TurboPower charging technology.
