AT&T Confirms It Will Carry the LG G6

LG has only just announced its newest flagship, the LG G6, and AT&T have already confirmed that they will be selling the device later on in the year. The LG G6, which is a significant departure from last year’s LG G5, has been rumored for some time now to be available in the US starting April. While a specific release date is yet to be confirmed by either LG or any US carriers, AT&T have gone ahead and confirmed that they will be carrying the device, making them the first US carrier to officially confirm this, though it shouldn’t be too long before competing carriers announce their plans.

In terms of pricing, nothing has been officially confirmed, though the company has said the device will be available in a range of three colors. So far, it can be confirmed that AT&T will carry the “Ice Platinum” thanks to an image the carrier posted on social media of the device sporting its logo, though it’s highly likely the carrier will also offer the “Mystic White” and “Astro Black” versions. The LG G6 signifies a complete overhaul of LG’s flagship device, with a new glass and aluminum construction, along with a an IP68 water and dust resistance rating and a large 5.7-inch display which features a unique 18:9 aspect ratio. On the inside of the device, LG has chosen to include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 and, on the software side of things, LG has partnered with Google in order to include their Google Assistant into the software.

With LG’s competition increasing constantly, an early release of the LG G6 is sure to work in the company’s favor, due to the month and a half advantage it’s rumored to have over the upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Nonetheless, with LG’s mobile strategy appearing to be clearer than ever and the fact that the LG G6 removes all unnecessary gimmicks and simply concentrates on what LG claims are customers needs, it’ll remain to be seen how the company’s device will fair in terms of sales. What is certain, though, is that the company is betting strongly on the device and even claimed during its press conference that future lineups and models will follow the example set by this year’s flagship model.
