Californian startup Brilliant Home Technology recently debuted the Control, its ultimate control panel for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Control is installed in place of a regular light switch and boasts support for virtually all of the most popular products in the IoT market including smart lights, connected speakers, Internet-enabled door locks, and similar devices. The Brilliant Control can allegedly be installed in up to ten minutes, after which the device is ready to start commanding all IoT devices scattered around your house. The switch is equipped with a 5-inch display panel boasting a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels and supports the IFTTT service for creating chains of conditional statements, meaning you can easily use the Control to not only manage but also automate your IoT devices.
The switch also ships with an accompanying Android app which you can use to control your connected devices even when you aren’t close to the Control. Like many other contemporary IoT offerings, the Brilliant Control is equipped with Amazon’s AI assistant Alexa, so it’s perfectly capable of holding a conversation and following voice commands. The product also features a camera and can easily be programmed to serve as an intercom, its creators claim. If a versatile smart hub sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll be able to get your hands on the Brilliant Control as early as late summer. A single switch can be preordered for $149, though Brilliant also offers quantity discounts depending on how many devices you need. For example, the company is currently selling four switches for $299. The product is currently available for pre-orders from the company’s website in 12 colors and a single switch will be priced at $199 once it officially hits the market later this year.
In the meantime, the San Mateo-based startup is planning to hold a series of presentations showcasing the Control in San Francisco. Live demonstrations at Target Open House will start tomorrow and all visitors will be able to try the device in person. The Californian company is expected to reveal more details regarding the Control in the future. If you aren’t interested in purchasing the Control but know someone who might want one, Brilliant’s website is also selling gift cards.
