The Gionee A1 is expected to be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain, but as is usually the case with smartphone nearing their debut, the Gionee A1 has also been the subject of various leaks and rumors over the last few weeks. More recently, the Gionee A1 has been spotted in the Geekbench database flaunting some of its hardware specifications, including an octa-core MediaTek processor and 4GB of RAM.
The Gionee A1 makes no effort to conceal its identity in the Geekbench database as the device is identified by model number “GIONEE A1”. As far as specifications are concerned, the Gionee A1 makes use of a MediaTek Helio P10 System-on-Chip (SoC), specifically the one identified as ‘MT6755V/C’. This seems to be the same chipset powering the upcoming HTC One X10, accommodating a high-performance quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at up to 1.9GHz, as well as four additional ARM Cortex-A53 cores operating at a lower frequency of 1.0GHz per core. Although this bit of detail goes by unmentioned in the Geekbench database, normally the MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 should make use of a Mali-T860MP2 (2-core) graphics chip.
