Google has today announced a new feature which should make finding the perfect recipe easier. This is due to a new recipe carousel that is appearing in the various Google Search avenues on Android. As a result of this change, when you are now searching for a recipe using Google Search on Android you will start to see tappable suggestions appearing in a carousel at the top of the search results. The idea being that after searching for a vague recipe – like for instance, ‘pot pie’, you are presented with a number of more specific recipe search query options. Like for instance, chicken pot pie, vegetable pot pie, gluten free pot pie, and so on.
Technically speaking, this is not actually a new feature as it was first noted back in December as one which was showing up for users already. Although it seems that was just part of a testing phase and today marks the day in which Google has formerly announced the new feature and its availability.
Of course, the timing of today’s announcement is not coincidental as the Super Bowl is only a matter of days away and the Google blog announcement does look to point out that this could be a useful feature for those who are looking for recipe ideas for game day. Or at the very least a way to get to the specific recipe they are looking for, as quickly as possible. Likewise, the announcement details that this sort of design is not only designed to be a quicker way to find the right recipe, but also a nice and easy way for you to find unique and novel variations of a recipe that you might not have considered before. So if you are looking to find that must-have dish for the big game (and even if you do not quite know what that must-have dish is), this feature should look to simplify the process of finding the right dish. You can see an example of how the new feature works in the Google-provided animation below. Or of course, just open the Google app and start searching.
