Google search results now offers up a plethora of fun facts on a wide range of different topics from animals to food, and all you have to do is type in the word you want trivia facts on and follow it up with “fun facts” and Search will kick back a list of results just like anything else you search for, but with a single fun fact about your query at the very top of the list. What’s more is that each time you search for fun facts the trivia fact that Google gives you will usually be different than the time before it, meaning you could waste some serious time searching for facts upon facts upon facts about a single topic.
Google points out that there are tons of different facts to discover, and although they give a decent amount of examples in their blog post, they also urge people to “have fun with fact finding” which means there is likely a ton of stuff you can get random trivia facts about if you simply give it a shot and try to find them. You might come up empty handed, but then again you may just stumble upon some of the best fun facts about stuff you’re interested in, and then you can share these facts with your friends and family, or really anyone who you think might care.
That being said, there won’t be fun facts about every single topic under the sun if you search for it, at least not in the same capacity that Google is adding them, meaning they won’t always display like they do in the image above. While this may not serve much of a functional purpose in terms of being useful, at least in most cases, should you be someone who just loves trivia then this is going to be a quick and easy way to find stuff out about random things. It could also come in handy if you’re doing some work on a specific topic and need a quick fact about that topic. This seems to be live in Google Search as of now, and you don’t have to be on the Google Search page in the web to access it. You can tap the Google Search widget or open up the Google app and type things in there, or speak to it through the Google Search voice button. It does not however kick back results if you try to use Google Assistant.
