While Android Wear 2.0 has been official for some time now, as Google has been rolling out developer previews of the smartwatch software version for the better part of a year, Google has just officially announced the launch of Android Wear 2.0 as of today, and they will be bringing it to the public and existing Android Wear smartwatches beginning February 10th which is this Friday. Google has already mentioned which devices wouldn’t be getting Android Wear 2.0 and which devices would continue to be supported by the new software, but as new devices have come out since initial statements were made detailing which devices were to see the update, Google has once again highlighted which are the devices that will be seeing the bump to Android Wear 2.0.
This includes the latest crop of Android Wear smartwatches, like the Polar M600 and the Nixon Mission, as well as the Michael Kors Access Dylan and the Michael Kors Access Bradshaw, the ASUS ZenWatch 3, and the most recently launched device which is the RunIQ smartwatch from New Balance. The last new watch, which hasn’t yet been released, is the CASIO PRO TREK Smart and this will get the update as well. This is in addition to the first two watches to see the software which are the LG Watch Style and the LG Watch Sport, both of which Google officially announced in partnership with LG today alongside the announcement for the Android Wear 2.0 launch.
If you’re on an even older Android Wear device there is still good news as many of the older smartwatches will be getting the new software too. This includes the ASUS ZenWatch 2, the Moto 360 2nd Gen, Moto 360 for Women, and the Moto 360 Sport, as well as all of LG’s previous Android Wear smartwatches except for the original G Watch, which are the Watch R, Watch Urbane, and Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE. The Huawei Watch, TAG Heuer Connected, CASIO Smart Outdoor Watch, and the Fossil Q Wander, Marshal, and Founder will all see the software update too. While Google does note that Android Wear 2.0 will be available in the coming weeks, they do not confirm that all devices will be receiving the update at the same time. This means that Google could be starting to send out updates from Friday when the LG Watch Sport and Watch Style launch, but continue with rolling out updates through the weekend and next week, as there are no exact times listed for when each compatible watch will get the new software.
