The LG G6 and its camera performance are being teased in two new YouTube videos that LG published several hours ago. The first video is simply titled “LG G6: Square” and showcases a unique functionality of the default Camera app of LG’s upcoming flagship. As it turns out, the app allows users to split the Camera user interface in two, use the top screen to frame their shot and the bottom one to instantly see their newly recorded image while still being able to make subsequent recordings with a single tap. From the looks of things, the bottom of the screen basically acts like a Gallery app that’s automatically updated with your latest recordings. Both the name and contents of the video suggest that this shooting mode is called Square, while the video’s description also implies the Camera app of the LG G6 will allow users to quickly upload their photos to Instagram.
The second video is titled “LG G6: Meaning of tears” and showcases the wide-angle shooting mode of LG’s upcoming flagship. Both teasers can be seen below and were published less than 24 hours after the South Korean tech giant released another video teasing the upcoming LG G6. The previous teaser focused on the smartphone’s waterproof design while some of LG’s other promotional efforts revealed that the phone will feature an all-metal body and a contemporary fingerprint scanner. The latter will likely be located on the back of the device, as many previously leaked images have suggested.
The LG G6 is expected to ship with a 5.7-inch QHD+ display boasting an unconventional 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is said to be fueled by the Snapdragon 821 system-on-chip (SoC) and between 4GB and 6GB of RAM. The reason why LG opted to equip its first 2017 flagship with a 2016 SoC is because Samsung is reportedly hoarding the Snapdragon 835 for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, meaning LG would have to wait until April to ship a phone powered by Qualcomm’s flagship chipset. As the South Korean phone maker reportedly isn’t willing to delay its upcoming phone, it probably won’t launch a Snapdragon 835-equipped device until the second half of this year. The LG G6 is scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday, February 26.
