LG had introduced their new flagship, the LG G6, yesterday, and the device does not sport a curved display. Well, the company has decided to address that, explain why the LG G6 does not sport a curved display. Phone Arena actually sat down with some members of LG’s team, and found out why LG decided to go with a flat display on the LG G6, instead of competing with Samsung in the curved display ring, read on.
LG says that there are two main reasons why they opted to utilize a flat panel, instead of a curved one. The first reason is, curved display smartphones are uncomfortable to hold, and that’s true, very few people would deny that fact. LG says that holding such smartphones causes tension build-ups and tiredness in hand muscles, especially if you hold such smartphone for a longer period of time. Accidental screen taps are yet another concern with such smartphones, as they’re basically bezel-less on the sides, so accidental screen taps are not exactly a rarity. Now, the second main reason why LG opted for a flat display, is the fact that curved panels are easier to crack. This is yet another fact, as there’s very little bezel on the sides, and the display is less prone to drops in general. There’s no denying that LG is right when it comes to these two points, but some manufacturers are obviously willing to risk all that in order to offer consumers something out of the ordinary, not to say that the LG G6 is an ordinary phone, because it certainly is not. Initial impressions are really good, at least generally speaking, the LG G6 is a truly nice-looking smartphone which comes with really thin bezels all around, and the curved corners of its screen also give it that special charm. In addition to all that, you’re getting a rather large 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display which comes with an 18;9 aspect ratio that is not that common, and yet it looks really nice on the LG G6.
The LG G6 is made out of metal and glass, it comes with wireless charging, and packs in 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of native storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC, which is not the latest and greatest SoC Qualcomm has to offer, but it’s extremely powerful nonetheless. All in all, LG introduced a really compelling flagship recently which is more than capable of competing with everything else out there. If you’d like to know more about its spec, follow this link.
