LG is hinting at reliability with the G6 in their latest teaser. An image they sent out states that their checking the boxes multiple times with reliability. The image is simply a message that says, “Reliability. Check, Check, Check,” followed by a statement about witnessing the next generation smartphone, and that it will coming to the consumers first from LG. It further tells people they can find out more details in relation to this particular message and the G6 in general during their Mobile World Congress press event, which happens at the end of this month on February 26th or, LG G6 Day according to LG’s press invites that went out earlier this month.
While reliability is something that manufacturers are always likely thinking about with their products, it isn’t necessarily something that always ends up being a result of a finished product that hits the market, and while LG is more or less promising reliability with the G6 this year, this also isn’t the first time that they’ve promised reliability for this device. Back before the LG G6 was officially confirmed by LG to be at Mobile World Congress, they put out a video that asked consumers on the street what they would want in their ideal smartphone. People gave lots of answers and at the end of the end of the video an image was shown in one frame that displayed a phone shaped outline with various words that represented key features in what people wanted in their ideal device.
Among these were things like waterproofing, a big screen, and a smaller body, but the very last trait in this list was reliability. This in particular was referring to people’s complaints about cracked screens, and while it isn’t directly spoken of by the consumers or LG in these teasers, some of LG’s past flagships have also had significant problems with software causing them to bootloop or freeze up. Reliability would certainly fix those problems as it would mean people could feel safe that their phone would continue to work the way it was intended, and do so for the remainder of their time with it until they were ready to move to a new device. In addition to reliability, the LG G6 is already expected to come with some pretty decent hardware specs, like a 32-Bit ESS Quad DAC and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor.
