Yesterday at MWC 2017, a number of new Nokia smartphones were announced. These included a revamping of the iconic Nokia 3310, as well as the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5, and the Nokia 6. Barring the 3310, the other three Nokia smartphones go up in scale in accordance with their numerical naming. So the Nokia 6 is the high-profile option, while the Nokia 3 is the entry-level option. Which inevitably leaves the Nokia 5 somewhere in the middle.
In terms of the design, there seems little to separate the Nokia 5 from the other two Nokia smartphones as all three of the devices, sport a somewhat reserved look and design. These are not meant to be flashy smartphones and instead all adopt a more simplistic look, along with an a metal unibody build. In terms of the specs, the Nokia 5 offers a 5.2-inch display with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside, the Nokia 5 comes packed with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor. In terms of cameras, you can expect to find a 13-megapixel camera on the back, as well as an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Additional features worth noting include a 3,000 mAh battery, the option to expand the storage thanks to an included microSD card slot, 4G LTE support, and Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box.
So while the specs and design are a little on the basic side, like the other newly-announced Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 5 is designed to be affordable smartphone. However, with the specs, design and even the price so close between the three, buying one of the new Nokia smartphones will likely come down to which suits an individual’s needs better. Size is a good example here as the Nokia 5 is just a little bit bigger than the Nokia 3, while being just a little bit smaller than the Nokia 6. So depending on what size of smartphone you prefer, could likely determine which of the new Nokia smartphones is right for you.
