An image depicting two new renders of the Moto G5 Plus just leaked online. A reliable industry insider Evan Blass recently took to Twitter to unveil the renders showing both sides of the device that can be seen above. The renders seemingly depict a phone that’s identical to the one that was leaked earlier this month, so there’s a good chance this is how Moto’s upcoming Android smartphone will look like.
The Moto G5 Plus is expected to ship with a 5.5-inch FullHD display and Android Nougat running out of the box. If its predecessors are any indication, the phone will likely run something similar to stock Android. Recent reports suggest that the device will be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip and up to 4GB of RAM. The phone is said to boast 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot, in addition to featuring a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter. All of that hardware will allegedly be fueled by a 3,080mAh battery and despite the fact that some original equipment manufacturers have recently been getting rid of the 3.5mm audio jack, the Moto G5 Plus will still feature one. It’s worth noting that rumors about the Moto G5 Plus have been somewhat inconsistent and some previous reports indicated that the device will ship with a somewhat smaller screen and a slightly weaker battery, so time will tell which rumors end up being correct.
The Lenovo-owned Moto could unveil the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. However, given how the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus launched last May, it’s possible that Moto will stick to that release schedule and won’t unveil either device until this spring. Regardless, this year’s MWC is bound to be an interesting one as the likes of Samsung, LG, and Huawei already confirmed they’ll be attending the Barcelona-based trade show where they’ll unveil a number of their upcoming devices. All things considered, even if the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus don’t launch until May, the smartphone market is bound to get even more competitive in the coming months.
